Services

At Cove Psychology Clinic, we provide compassionate, evidence-based support for adults navigating life’s challenges. Therapy is a collaborative process — a space to pause, reflect, and explore what’s been difficult, while developing practical strategies for change and growth.

Therapy for Adults

We offer psychological therapy for a wide range of concerns, including:

  • Stress
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Relationship challenges
  • Identity exploration
  • Adjustment to life transitions

Every person’s experience is unique, so therapy is tailored to your goals and needs. Together, we explore what’s happening, why it’s impacting you, and what might help.

Our work integrates a range of evidence-based models, including:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
  • Schema Therapy

  • Narrative Therapy

All sessions are delivered within a trauma-informed and neurodiversity-affirming framework, focused on helping you feel safe, empowered, and supported.

New to Therapy?

What to Expect in Your First Session

Your first session is an opportunity to get to know each other and explore what has brought you to therapy. We’ll talk about your goals, current challenges, and what you hope to gain from support at Cove Psychology Clinic.

Before your first appointment, you’ll receive a registration and consent form, along with an intake questionnaire to help us understand your background and needs. You’re welcome to complete these at your own pace.

Together, we’ll decide on a pace and approach that feels comfortable and safe. You’re encouraged to bring anything that helps you feel at ease — whether that’s a drink, a snack, or simply yourself. This space is for you.

“Sometimes the bravest and most important thing you can do is just show up.”

Preparing for Therapy

You don’t need to come prepared with all the answers — therapy is about exploring together. You might like to think about what has prompted you to reach out and what you’d like to be different in your life.

Adult ADHD and Autism Assessments

We provide comprehensive psychological assessments for adults seeking clarity and understanding around ADHD or autism.

Each assessment is conducted in line with current national guidelines and includes:

  • A detailed clinical interview
  • Standardised questionnaires
  • (For Autism assessments) a functional assessment with an occupational therapist
  • A written report and feedback session to discuss results and recommendations

Our goal is to offer insight that supports both self-understanding and access to appropriate recommendations or accommodations.

Referrals aren’t required for assessments, as there are no eligible Medicare rebates for these services. Contact us to book a free 15-minute phone consultation for more info.

Preparing for Your Assessment

If you’ve booked an ADHD or Autism assessment, you’ll receive an email outlining what to expect and any forms to complete before your appointment. You’re welcome to include previous reports or documentation that may assist with your assessment.

The process is designed to be collaborative, respectful, and aligned with national best-practice guidelines.

Please Note:

Some agencies, such as the NDIS, may require reports from additional health professionals before confirming eligibility for supports.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a referral to book?

No. You can book directly without a referral. However, if you would like to claim a rebate through Medicare, you’ll need a referral and Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP.

Can I claim both Medicare and private health for the same session?

No — you can claim one or the other, not both. If you have a valid GP referral, you can claim the Medicare rebate. If not, you may be able to claim a rebate from your private health fund, depending on your level of cover.

What does paying privately mean?

Paying privately simply means attending without a referral. The full session fee is paid on the day, and you may be able to claim a rebate from your private health fund.

Do you offer telehealth sessions?

Yes. Secure telehealth sessions are available for clients across Western Australia and interstate.

How long are sessions?

Standard therapy sessions are 50 minutes. Assessment sessions vary depending on the type and scope of assessment.

What is your cancellation policy?

At least 24 hours’ notice is required if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. Cancelled or missed appointments within 24 hours of the appointment time will incur a fee.
